How soon should I book my room and flights?
Book as early as possible!
As soon as you receive the Save-the-Date or formal invitation, secure your accommodations. Couple-reserved room blocks have strict cutoff dates (often 60 to 90 days before travel), after which unbooked rooms are released back to the resort, and special group rates disappear.
For flights, setting up price alerts 6 to 8 months in advance is ideal. Aim to have your flights booked at least 3 to 4 months out to ensure preferred arrival times.
Can I book my room on discount travel sites like Expedia or Costco?
Please avoid doing this!
While it is tempting to shop around online, booking outside the couple's dedicated room block can cause major issues:
Couple's Perks: The couple earns group amenities (like private welcome parties or room upgrades) based on the number of rooms booked inside their block. Outside bookings do not count.
Resort Pass Fees: If your booking isn't linked to the wedding group, the resort may charge you an Outside Guest Day Pass fee (often $100–$200+ per day) just to step foot on the property for wedding events.

How many days should I plan to stay?

I always recommend arriving at least one full day before the wedding ceremony. This gives you a cushion for potential flight delays, lost luggage, or travel fatigue, ensuring you are relaxed and ready for the main event.

Do I need to buy a wedding gift if I am paying to travel?
Your presence is the primary gift!
Traveling to a destination wedding requires a financial investment in flights, lodging, and time off work. Most couples host a destination wedding fully aware of this and do not expect extravagant gifts.
Etiquette Tip: A thoughtful card with a heartfelt message is always appropriate. If you still wish to give a gift, purchase something off their online registry to be shipped directly to their home. Never bring boxed physical gifts to an international resort—the couple will not have room in their luggage to bring them home!
